FAQ
- Q: What is this all about?
- A: Signatures is all about email signatures. If you're unsure what an email signature is, you can read more about it on Wikipedia. The app Signatures allows you to manage and use multiple email signatures on your device. It has been created to address the iOS limitation of having only one single signature for all your email accounts.
- Q: Can I add a picture to my signature?
- A: Yes! There is just one requirement: your picture needs to reside on a webserver. Here's an example that demonstrates how to include the Neoos logo in your signature:
<img src="http://apps.neoos.ch/neoos.png" width="250" height="94" />
If you wanted to make the logo clickable it would be:<a href="http://www.neoos.ch"><img src="http://apps.neoos.ch/neoos.png" width="250" height="94" border="0" /></a>
In case you don't have a webserver on your own, sites such as Photobucket are a good alternative. - Q: Can I assign a from-address to a specific signature?
- A: No. That is technically not possible with any current version of iOS. But you can of course change the sending address by tapping on the from field inside the Mail app.
- Q: How do I attach a signature when replying to an email?
- A: You have to switch to the Signatures app (on the iPad the easiest way to do that is using the new 5-finger multitouch gesture). Then copy the signature that you want, switch back to Mail and insert it by tapping and holding inside the mail body and then selecting paste.
- Q: What about using formatted signatures when replying?
- A: Unfortunately that is technically not possible at the moment. All you can do when replying is using plain text signatures and the copy/paste feature.
- Q: How can I format my signature using colors and font types?
- A: You have to use HTML syntax to do the formatting. HTML is the very same language that is also used to create websites so basically you can format your signatures like you would format your website. A nice tutorial on HTML can be found here.
- Q: This app interferes with the iOS standard signature. What can I do about that?
- A: We recommend deleting your iOS base signature in order to not have two signatures in use at the same time. This can be done by going to the Settings app and selecting Mail, Contacts, Calendars and then Signature.
