Troubleshooting Questions

Q: When I tap ("click") on a doodle poll link (http://doodle.com/xyzabc123) on my iPhone (e.g. within the mail program), the application is not launched. Why?

A: After tapping the doodle poll link, on the doodle website you'll be able to choose that the "Doodle for iPhone" application is automatically launched anytime you tap on a doodle poll link. You need to do this only once (or at least only after your cookie containing this information has expired or been deleted).

Q: In the results view, all my dates / times look something like "(null) ((null))". I can't see any dates/times. Also, when tapping on Details, the app crashes. How come?

A: This was a known error of Version 1.0. Since Version 1.01, this bug is fixed. Please update Doodle for iPhone by downloading/installing version 1.01 (or newer)!

Q: Help! I chose "Yes, switch to native iPhone/iPod app." but I have not downloaded the iPhone App "Doodle for iPhone". Now I can't use Mobile Doodle anymore! What can I do?

A: You have to delete the respective cookie in your mobile safari browser on the iPhone/iPod touch. Go to "Settings, Safari" and choose "Clear Cookies". Next time on the Doodle page, you must choose "No, do not switch.", this is important!

Q: Help! I'm a user from a time zone other than CET (GMT +01:00) and I experience time differences between the poll on the doodle web site and the same poll in the iPhone app!

A: Version 1.0 of Doodle for iPhone contained an error that caused the (dates and) times in the iPhone app to be different from the (dates and) times on the doodle web site. Since version 1.01, this bug is fixed. Please update Doodle for iPhone by downloading/installing version 1.01 (or newer)!

Q: Help! I can't access Polls on "Mobile Doodle" (on my iPhone's browser) anymore! I'd like to fix this completely from scratch!

A: Step 1: Go to "Settings", "Safari" and select "Clear Cookies", Step 2: Click on any Doodle poll link in your iPhone's browser or mail program (such a link looks like this: http://www.doodle.com/abcdef123456 [but this is no real poll link!]),  Step 3: You'll be asked "Doodle Website or iPhone App?" - select "Continue on the Doodle website. I do not have Doodle for iPhone installed.", Step 4: You'll be asked "Switch to Mobile Doodle?" - select "Yes, switch to Mobile Doodle."

Doodle Mobile Questions

Q: What is "Mobile Doodle"?

A: "Doodle Mobile" is the name for a version of Doodle's web site, which is optimized for mobile devices. It is located at m.doodle.com and the usage is free of charge.

A: This will enable that whenever you tap on a Doodle poll link (http://doodle.com/xyzabc123) on your iPhone (e.g. within the mail app), the Doodle for iPhone app is launched automatically and your poll is loaded.

Q: What happens if I choose "No, do not switch." on the "Mobile Doodle" website?

A: This will make sure that, as before, Mobile Doodle is opened up after tapping on a Doodle poll link.

General Questions

Q: What's the deal of the iPhone app "Doodle for iPhone"?

A: "Doodle for iPhone" is the official Doodle iPhone App. It is co-branded between Doodle AG and Neoos GmbH. Both companies are involved in equal parts.

Q: Why does the login into MyDoodle take place via the web browser? Why do I have to re-login into MyDoodle from time to time? Can't the iPhone app save my login credentials once and for all?

A: For security purposes, authentication and authorization of the app (and the user) are implemented by using OAuth. Thus, the user's access credentials aren't stored on the device, which is a great plus for the user's security. The lifetime of a 'login' is currently set to a period of 1 month, meaning that users have to log in once a month on average. We are working on increasing this lifetime, please stay tuned.

Q: Why is there no integration with the iPhone Calendar application?

A: We would love to integrate Doodle for iPhone with the native Calendar application but our hands are tied. Unfortunately there is no official way to access the iPhone Calendar data using the iPhone SDK (Software Development Kit).

Q: I don't see a poll I recently used (on my desktop computer) in my iPhone app dashboard, even though I'm a MyDoodle user.

A: Polls are only related to your MyDoodle account if you create them whilst logged into your account (on the web). Since Version 1.1, the compatibility between the web and the iPhone app of such polls has been improved though.
